Nobody can see it. It doesn't matter how cool it is, nobody can see it.

It's like paying 500k for an expensive car that nobody will ever see. Or paying twice the amount for Kingston ultra-mega-super ram when it's just rebranded Samsung chips- that once again nobody will ever see. How many people do you think will do that?

If you're trying to base apple's stock valuation on the vanity of stupid people, you're treading on pretty then ice in terms of revenue stability. How much of apple's stock valuation are you prepared to base on whether or not people wear their ipods on the OUTSIDE of their clothing, or the inside?

Cabbage patch kids, anyone?

The main point of my comment is that buying an MP3 player is a personal decision, unlike buying a computer for business. This thing called coolness is a major factor in that decision for a lot of people. Not everyone sits down and does a clinical analysis of technical features before choosing. A large part of their decision is based on emotion. And that's where the luxury car analogy comes into play. There are lots of valid reasons for choosing a solid, well-built, full-featured Camry. Then there's the SLR.
