"In fact you seem to be saying that these ideas don't come from people... you seem to be on the side of.... the believers!!!"

You make a wild and reckless post of your own remarks and then attribute them to me--all the time ignoring that I pointedly gave evidence that the idea (that the 9/11 killers acquired their specific values from genes)--was unconvincing to say the least.

In civilization we have premises that we use to justify sanctions and social interference. These premises are that,

PEOPLE ARE:

ACCOUNTABLE for their acts, because

People are RESPONSIBLE for their acts, because

People are COMPETENT in their acts insofar as

People are CAPABLE of understanding their acts.

The "argument" that "genes made me do it" is no more convincing than the "argument" that "the devil made me do it"

Using "genes" to excuse the values people make (and ignoring the fact that certain values could ONLY have been absorbed through the transmission of language--oral and written--is no more compelling than blaming benevolence and acts of kindness on stomach bacteria--which (like genes) we all just happen to have. Such a cop-out leads to the disavowal of accountability--which tears down the entire edifice on which rests our civilization.

You are a funny fellow, DAK!
