>>Now all US consumption is imported from China.<<

NOT any more! China already start to restrict the export of rare earth. I read last month that an Aussie company is happy, and hoping to cash in due to the reduction on China part.

Actually, in the long run, environmentalists in the West will do a big big favor for their own nations. Since a lot of these rare metals have NO replacement in high tech. industries, so their price bound to go up as the resources going down. The West is now consuming others' resources at a huge bargain price, and then when those rare mines are hard to come by, they still have enough resources on their own land.

China has been SOOOO stupid in this aspect. Those elite has NO strategic mind whatsoever. Luckily, now some Chinese officials become smarter, and have started to put some leash on natural resources exports.

>>Exactly! And capitalist U.S. and Canadian companies have learned that it is cheaper to do things the right way, the first time!<<

Yeah, right. NOT! They ONLY do things CHEAPEST way in China and other developing countries! even if that means they are using the old technology of 20 years ago!
