That bill was a massive tax increase that did virtually nothing to fix the long term fiscal problems.

The long range fiscal problems then, as now, are a delusional belief that government does not need revenue to operate.

A nonsensical concept that wars and infrastructure are free lunch items that can be paid for, if ever, by generations of Americans as yet unborn.

A concept born of manifest greed that argues that any tax is an intrusion on what is mine to accumulate, spend, hypothecate and bequest.

In other words the soul of Republican belief.

A belief so cherished that GOP leaders will actually fabricate wars to delude voters in order to stay in power to cut taxes for their wealthy supporters..
