Oil Sand play - in TEXAS ? TXCO

I have been buying this stock the past two days. Has some speculation in the price, but the rest of the company is doing well, increasing production of oil and gas. At todays prices, (under 15) you get a growing oil and gas company plus a nearly free lottery ticket on the multi-billion bbls oil sand play.

TXCO is a small oil company in Texas, about 450 million market cap. They have some good things going, the usual Barnett Shale plays, a deep gas project Encana, and a big land position in the Maverick Basin with their own 3D seismic. An additonal wild card - or lottery ticket -is their oil sands play in
TEXAS, only about 150 miles from multiple refineries able to handle heavy oil - like the stuff we are no longer getting from Venezuela, and that Mexico will have less to sell as Cantarell declines.

They are partnered 50:50 with a Canadian firm with oil sands experience. Maybe 7+ Billion barreles in the oil sands. Conoco showed 50% recovery in 1970s. So maybe 1.7 Billion recoverable for TXCO.

Figure a transaction value of $ 1.00 a bbl. for oil sands - I need to check the latest prices that Shell paid - that would add 1.7 Billion to TXCOs market cap, about 4x.

They have a website at www.txco.com
Oil Sands on page 12, 13 of txco.com
