Lieberman got everything he wanted from the dems...he got his seniority, his committee chairmanship. He has the power...he's not going anywhere...remember, his State elected him in part, in part, because he pledged to remain a democrat. The state voted 90% between him and Lamont. He is not a fool....unlike Ben Nighthorse Campbell or John Sparkman, who moved from the party losing power to the party gaining power (and thereby did not lose authority, but gain it) Lieberman is much stronger as he is. He may still stay strong on the war, but he won't forget how he got to where he is and what the voters in Conn. thought they were getting when they voted for him.

And, if Lieberman jumped to the Republicans the Democrats would go after Olympia Snowe big time....promise her the world. She could switch to the dems and suffer no pain in Maine. If she did and Joe had switched to repub., then he would have achieved nothing and his career in six years would be over in Conn.

Joe is smart. He has played this very well, and will continue to do so..
