Mr. Lamar, you stated Intel is committed to using Mercury down to .25mu. One problem: Mercury is limited to this width. The major selling point of the Cymer lasers is that they are capable of much smaller widths (capable of evolving without a semi purchasing an entirely new laser or system) - so, you don't need to go out and purchase a ton of new lasers to move from .25mu to .18mu or .10mu. The Cymer laser, with refittings and possibly different chemical substrates will be able to achieve the .18mu and below. According to Cymer Intel is using a Cymer laser as a testing vehicle. An announcement could come anytime. TI is more involved with Cymer lasers but have said nothing that I've read regarding further rampup.

The bottom line: Cymers lasers are capable of evolution. So what if DUV is around two years? Cymers lasers will be capable of using the next form of light/gas mixture etching. Its the BOX that is capable of change. Mercury Arc is not capable of such change.
