Re: WINTEL vs. Macintosh - I bought my first Mac back in 1984. I had been using an IBM PC & Lotus 123 at work. I was frustrated with all the "back slash" and other commands that you had to "know" in order to work with the machine. Someone showed me a Mac with the GUI "icon" desk top arrangement. I remember asking myself "Why would anyone ever use the IBM PC when this machine was available?" It was so much easier to use. I was convinced it was the better way to go.

I bought the Mac Powerbook portable back in 1993. I was still convinced that this was a better way to compute. Until Bill Gates and Windows '95. I knew then that WINTEL had matched the "user friendly" nature of the Macintosh with Windows '95. This was going the change the way people worked with PC's and greatly increase their appeal.

This was when I started investing in Intel. There was nothing to stop the universal appeal of the PC. Intel was cheap compared to its growth rate. I still think it is a bargain.

Paul, I appreciate you for sharing you knowledge of Intel on this thread.

Regards, Duncan
