The piece is highly informative and interesting, although it's unfortunate that it hasn't been updated, since it is five years old covering a topic that is moving ahead with high velocity.

I hesitated fron throwing numbers at your earlier question concerning the percent of national power generation that is being expended on the Internet, and data centers, in particular, for reasons you brought up in your subsequent post. Namely, the amount that is expended on air conditioning and other environmental considerations. Another aspect we've not touched on, which I covered in earlier posts upstream, has to do with the unyieldingg Moore's Law-like densification of system hardware resulting in a doubling, sometimes tripling, of the amount of power being consumed per square foot as compared with only five or six years ago.
