The Saudi manitain a heavy internal security force.

So did the following:

1.- Batista;

2.- Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, the former Shah of Iran;

3.- Idi Amin;

4.- Papa Doc and Baby Doc;

5.- Hitler;

6.- The former USSR;

7.- and on and on and on and on.

Point is, repression is no guarantee of success. Usually means that the regime is sick for x, y or z reason, and is not stable because it is not popularly supported. This is exactly the case with the Saudis and lots of others, probably including the MadMullahcracy, Egypt, and any number of others.

At some point, the contradictions require upheaval. Like water rising, the force against unpopular regimes ultimately cannot be stopped. Best to prepare for that, rather than bet on the success of repression.
