The thing that followers of MRV fail to understand is that businesses buy switches from companies that can support their network. MRV makes a very nice box and I predict it will do well in the low end of the market through the Intel relationship. However, it has NO chance of impacting the larger accounts, who are tied to Cisco, Bay and 3Com. Big customers will not trust their building backbones to tiny niche players, no matter how good thier box is. That is why products like the Cisco Catalyst 5000 and Bay's Centillion 100 dominate this marketplace. I don't care if MRV has the first of best gigabit Ethernet product. It won't be anything but a very low second tier player catering to small businesses. Switching will grow big time, but will MRV grow with it? I don't think they will beyond the small business market.
