"Controlled nuclear fusion could in principle be used in fusion power plants to produce safer, cleaner power, but significant scientific and technical obstacles remain. Several fusion reactors have been built, but as yet none has 'produced' more thermal energy than electrical energy consumed. Despite research having started in the 1950s, no commercial fusion reactor is expected before 2050 [19] (http://www.iter.org/index.htm). The ITER project is currently leading the effort to commercialize fusion power. "

Looks like uranium will be around for a while longer.

I would, however, love to hear the bear case for uranium. At the moment, both demand and supply seems distributed so completely around the world that government intervention in the markets seems unlikely. It's hard to imagine any reason for the U. S. government to interfere with investments in uranium by individuals. The Honorable Jim Flaherty will just have to wring his hands in frustration, finding no way to betray his principles and his constituency other than perhaps nationalizing Cameco and Denison.
