<"No one said 'coerced'"
You said he was COMPELLED to run to the ME. This is not unlike being forced or pressured, so your denial is unconvincing.>

My denial that coerced no equal compelled??? Sorry, hardly. One is compelled by ones own issues, one is coerced by another. Sorry. The description is as was intended.

<I object to the word "reacting" as a matter of principle.>

That's too bad... a nice thought... but people "react" all the time. You and I react all the time. In fact, the usage was exactly as intended as it has the meaning of lack of clear awareness or intention in the "response" that you prefer. We all like to think we are always responding with awareness and intention that is pure... sadly that is not the case. And my opionion that Bush reacted reather than responded (to stay with the verbage we've used so far) is exactly what I intended to say.

FWIW, any psychologist will tell you that there is plenty of our action/thought/etc that is reaction and not "aware response".
