Actually, it would, indeed, be mad for him to attack Iran without a prior false-flag terrorist "spark" to psych up Western public opinion against Iran... just like it would have been foolish for the US to attack Afghanistan and Iraq without 9/11.
Besides, there are numerous ways for Israel --together with its Judeocon allies in Washington-- to draw the US itself into doing the job.... For instance, how about another "USS Liberty" scheme that would involve the killing of dozens of US sailors --allegedly by some Iranian suicide-speedboat? Or the shelling of a US army base in Iraq --allegedly by Iran-trained terrorists? With US hawks still smarting from the humiliating hostage crisis of 1979, another "Iranian outrage" might just be the last straw... to start a military escalation between the US and Iran. The rationale for the Pentagon would consist in wreaking so much damage and destruction on Iranian infrastructure as to make the Iranian people understand that a nuclear Iran is not an option. Therefore the targets of US bombings would not be limited to nuclear facilities only but widened to oil refineries, industrial factories, power plants, etc. Somehow, a repeat of what befell Lebanon last summer....
And how could Iran's boastful mollahs retaliate? By ordering Hezbollah to rain hundreds of rockets over Israel? ROFL... Remember, Searle: it took 1,000 rockets to kill 40 Israelis. Oh, perhaps dozens of suicide-speedboats will be unleashed against oil tankers in the Persian Gulf? But the US Navy has the means to escort all the tankers going in and out of the area.... Hastening the building of nuclear missiles? But by the time the mollah regime achieves its first operational missile, it may well be toppled and swept away in another, "pro-US" revolution....
