Frue Vanners! Hey, that is getting there.. developed at U of T. During the later period of mining in Nova Scotia most mining companies installed shaking tables, frue vanners or Wilfley tables to treat the tailing that escaped from the amalgamation process. Although the gold in the province was largely "free mining" a portion of it was tied up with sulphides and other chemical combinations that prohibited recovery through amalgamation alone. Concentration was the means by which the auriferous portions of the tailings were collected in small portions for further treatment.
