Emad: In my case, there was no time for due diligence, consideration, rational decision making. It was 3:57 on a trading day, and the broker gave me the impression that Intel was shooting up, and to not buy would be a lost golden opportunity.
Now, Intel is a stock I had never considered owning. Too expensive, way out of my league, I didn't even track it in any portfolio, or pay attention when it was talked about on CNBC, et al. Being of modest means, the only way I even got into this stock was through an extremely lucky hit on a long shot that I had to get out of while it was on its way back down.
Of course, the next day, Intel started a 10% correction, and I have rued my purchase ever since. I cannot throw money at every stock I'd like to buy, so having 70% of my reserves tied up in a currently moribund stock is painful.
I don't blame the broker....I had to give the permission to buy, I don't believe the question should have been asked, though.
