The Swift Boat attacker John O'Neill's republican backed ($30 million worth) was a bunch of lies. O'Neill claims 60 vets who served w/Kerry at the time came out against him - LIE. ONE only - Stephen Gardner - and Gardner has since admitted that HE LIED about being with Kerry at the time Kerry received his purple heart: On Crossfire, O'Neill claimed that there "are more than 60 people that served with John Kerry that contributed to this book." NOT TRUE
In fact, only one man who served on John Kerry's boat, Stephen Gardner, is involved with Swift Boat Vets or Unfit for Command. While the group's members are veterans of the Vietnam War and may have served at the same time as Kerry or even on boats near Kerry's, only one man who served on John Kerry's boat, Stephen Gardner, is involved with Swift Boat Vets or Unfit for Command. And Gardner was not present for the events that led to any of Kerry's medals or any of Kerry's three Purple Hearts.

A grand total of 1 member of SBV actually served WITH Kerry on his boat - Steve Gardner. Gardner himself, after repeatedly lying, finally conceded that he had not actually served with Kerry at the time Kerry won his Purple Hearts, Bronze Star and Silver Star. The rest of the SBV members served at or before/after the time Kerry served and in other boats or duties.
