The scraping and bowing and overt ass kissing that goes on in Washington whenever one of these Oil Sheiks come to town is disgusting, and should abuse anyone of the thought that democracy is on the US administration's mind. Quite the opposite now, of course. These guys are on the take and on the US payroll, and do what they are told.

The last experiment in democracy in Palestine has resulted in little Israel bombing and starving the citizens in the hope that they will throw out the elected Hamas government in favour of a government that is more "acceptable". I'm sure, even a good dictator would do. They tried that in Lebanon too, but so far, all it has done was to strenghten Hezbollah.

The single biggest blunder in "democracy" is Iraq. The US thought they could install a puppet government and control political events in Iraq. The result is a civil war, with Iran holding the trump cards. Iran, the arch enemy, the country which overthrew their American backed Shaw. I wonder how many Americans wish Saddam was back in power? Things were so much simpler then!

It isn't democracy or the will of the people that is important. It is a government or dictatorship which the West can control and do business with. That no doubt is a lesson well learned by Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc. etc. etc.

I'm sure this hasn't escaped the attention of China or Russia either.
