I like the Sunday flyers this week. Best Buy has a Turion X2 TL-56 notebook matched against a T5500 C2D notebook. At first the C2D would seem to be a better buy, until you realize it has Intel graphics and a smaller battery. Three of 4 desktop systems are AMD-based, including an AMD Live 5000+. The only Intel desktop is a Pentium D 805.
At Circuit City AMD has Turion X2 notebooks (15.4", 17") at $750 and $900, while Intel has (15.4", 15.4", 12.1") at $950, $1100 and $1250. I think the lower prices will win out with most consumers. In desktops CC is more balanced with 3 Intel and 2 AMD.
The DELL flyer has 2 AMD desktops, 1 AMD notebook versus 1 Intel desktop and 5 Intel notebooks. A bit of "typecasting" going on here, but who can complain when DELL is advertising 1/3 AMD?!
Office Depot has 2 Intel Desktops, both ViiV and 7 Intel notebooks, versus 3 AMD Desktops (1 AMD Live) and 2 AMD notebooks.
COMPUSA has 7 Intel Desktops and 6 Intel Notebooks, vs. ZERO AMD Desktops and ONE AMD notebook. Pages 4-8 are plastered with Intel logos, forcing the AMD notebook onto page 1. :-) ------------------------------------------------------- re: <passing, I mean POSTING statistics>
Sheesh, I only had 4 recs for 13 attempts at posting useful info, more like Ryan Leaf than Philip Rivers. (That's San Diego Charger humor -- please keep any US football comments after relevant AMD market share info, like I did.)
