and I have a goodly dose of sediment. But tonight it wasn't sediment that had sedimented in my cellar for ten years from an unfiltered zin...Tonight it was something special and different. Tonight it was sediment thrown in Alex's cellar for the last twenty years.

The Ridge '78 Fiddletown Zinfandel must have been stunningly concentrated in its youth. Going on 20 years, it is dark, rich, and firmly tannic. The bottle age has smoothed the edges to where it just plain feels good in your mouth. Like a [deleted by SI sensors] at just the right age.

We washed that fine zin down with a '77 Gran Coronas from Torres in Spain. A very smooth well-balanced wine. Mmmmm...not bad for a cabernet.

Loving Spouse was along as the incubator/designated driver. All is well with her...she still has plenty of energy to take care of Alex as well as Junior. But as their life changes, they won't be needing those sticky rubber gumball tires anymore. Their teutonic family sedan won't be needing the 195VR50/15 Dunlops they left with me. The new MR2 will be mighty happy to be finally stuck to the ground properly.

Did I mention my parents? Yep they were here as well...my SI family now overlaps with my genetic family...

Soon I'll be telecommuting home instead of to work.
