This thread was originally designed to host discussions about call writing against core holdings. Most of us were investors of the Gorilla & King persuasion, so we had already selected our long term holdings, and covered calls represented icing on the cake, not the primary focus of our investing strategy. As a result, little emphasis was placed on identifying stocks to write against.

The thread hasn't been very active in the Post-Bubble-Era, and conversations have drifted to other options related opportunities, such as put writing. But for the most part, the topics of discussion have been simple plays rather than things that require heavy thinking, like spreads. They make my eyes glaze over ;-).

There's plenty of bandwidth these days, and our moderator is no longer on the scene (anyone have news of Faultline?), so feel free to see if there are any kindred souls reading the board.

And to answer one of the questions in your earlier post, most of us prefer to write options instead of buying them. When one of my stocks of interest is trading at the high end of its range, I write calls. When it's at the low end of its range, I write puts. The only tough part is figuring out the range :-/.
