<<… possible chronology>>

Generally we probably can expect the usual chronology:

(i) Surfacing of a dumb and half-baked idea
(ii) Generation of false hope and promotion of magic-bullet approach
(iii) Decision on supposedly painless approach and adoption of cost-free path
(iv) 250 year pop culture fantasy meets with 4,500 year survival instinct
(v) Puzzlement
(vi) Disappointment
(vii) Rework
(viii) Disillusionment
(ix) Frustration
(x) Massive losses
(xi) Horrible internal division
(xii) Bankruptcy of ideas
(xiii) Dissolution

Timing … perhaps 20 years.

As to what exactly happens when, hard to say, as it depends on all of the actors choosing to do a variety of measures and counter-measures, but I am guessing that it will involve a slow and painful progression of escalations, ending in some apocalyptic series of events.

OK. May I suggest Pt, as the resulting oil price increases will necessitate the wider still adoption of heavy oil / diesel usage as well as fuel cells and conservation measures such as tele-commuting.

Pt is used (Pd is inadequate) specifically for catalyst on diesel cars, in fuel cells, and for coating on computer hard drives.

Coincidentally, it rose 5% today.
