a post from ppatch .... on SH

To answer JohnM3 question where the electrical grid idea came from, it came from Ms Kent during the last host conference. Ms Kent kindly mentioned that the main power grid was passing within I thnk was 12 miles of the mine. She answered her own question that it would likely be much less expensive to wait to put in the power line than re-order/purchase a generator from USA. The generator that was lined up was snatched from under there feet due to the scarcity of generators in Peru.
I believe she mentioned it would take about 3 months for the power grid to be built to the mine.

LAMAQUE MINE ASSAYS- I thnk they went over most every ones head because it was only one block of 11,000 tons (7,500 oz AU) worth about $4,500,000 gross dollars.

Sigma mills 5000 t/d. 11,000 Tons = 2.2 days milling.

*The research I found lead me to believe that the recovery AU mill grade was much higher than 6 g/t and was likely closer to +25 g/t.
This could be explained from the regular occurence of drill assays which were frequently well over 100 g/t. These assays were cut to about 11 g/t to calculate reserve estimates.

Its said that Lamaque Mine produced 4.5 million Oz AU over 45 years, at a mill rate of 250 t/d than the mine averaged 100,000 oz per year or 277 oz per day on average or 1.1 oz per ton.

This small test mill ran for 45 years of 6 g/t? I dont think so.

As 2007 unfolds; the Lamaque ore is processed with the lower grade Sigma ore I believe it will prove up to be a very rich receipe.

Remember everything takes time in mining. The permit process was going to have to be reapplied for because the mine changed ownership. Also the Lamaque mine had other technical problems which would have necessitated a new operating permit both for the safety of the underground workers but also, the possible liability issues that could arise from an accident operating under the McWatters permit.

I dont know if the SP will go up or down from the earnings announcement for Sept 30. But my take is that as along as the earnings are positive or only slightly negative it wont matter. Simply because if the tonnage has been high for Oct/Nov the price of gold is over $600. than this qtr should be a good one in spite of 2 g/t from only the Sigma pit. Remember this qtr Oct/Nov/Dec will be the first with all the ore trucks running full out. I also believe the SP will be soft until the Poderosa deal is completed. I guess the only real question is how many tons has the Sigma mine been processing per day since Oct 1?
