Maybe I am missing something but I see the assassination as part of Hezbollahs Coup attempt and I see Hezbollah as just another name for Iran... so ineffect Iran is taking over Lebanon at Syrias expense... A win/win for Iran in the context of their attempt to be the number 1 guy in the Middle East. Syria needs the USA more than it knows,or maybe it does know and is just not yet capable of making the connection. Saudi Arabia knows, Kuwait knows, Jordan knows, Arab Emirates know, .....
