A viable life is where the being can live and breathe on their own. Conversely, you could argue that any stage prior to viability is a human life. Some believe that preventing conception is also murdering a potential life, as they are not so much hung up on the biology of it as the fate of it.

That's at least what my Catholic upbringing said. Which is why there are so many ex-Catholics today...
