It was....That's for sure. That's where telephone gossip got its name.... These younger people never even knew about those phones, nor did they know that about 10 or so years later, we still had to make appointments to call long distance. My folks would call on Sunday morning to reach my Grandparents via the long distance operator. She would call back late Sunday afternoon, or early evening, with the Grandparents on the line.

Less than 50 years later, we can play music, take pictures, and moving pictures, etc all on a phone we put in our purse and travel with.

Amazing times, eh?
