"The answer is very simple... all the Bush bashing and negative attacks from the liberal press and anti American politicians here at home have enabled and encouraged the enemy to continue, they "know" that Americans have no stomach for a fight, so we will just give up after a brief encounter... thank you all you liberals who have brought this upon us..."
The Republicans have had complete control over the control of this war since 2003...funding, troop commitments, strategy, tactics...The insurgency began shortly after our invasion...and grew. The President was reelected in 2004 on a promise to stay the course, or something very like it. The insurgency grew. The Iraqis held elections and our politicians held up purple thumbs..the insurgency grew. We killed Zarquawi, captured Saddam,..still the insurgency grew. The President and republican congress remained in full control and authority from his second election in 2004 right up to the present day, and for a month more. Still the insurgency grows, with a record month for Iraqi civilian deaths. The militias have the hearts and minds of the Baghdad people, we don't.
I can't think for a minute that the unleashing of 1600 years of sectarian hatred, the empowering of militias and the mismanagement of the occupation (allowing a primary bathist sunni army to go home jobless with their weapons, lousy infrastruture replacement..and so much more) can be blamed on the liberals.
Really, GZ, don't you think it is a little more complicated than the liberal press 12,000 miles away from the daily bloodletting? If the republicans had been reelected, do you really think it would "settle down"? |
