The point is that with street name, declaration name, and a thousand other means of sheltering the identities of true owners, we can't just say: "We won't honor our debt owned by the Chinese government"....We wouldn't know which was what..and even if we did...such an act would destroy the dollar's value and shoot our interest rates through the roof.... Again, not a good idea to even contemplate. We have to honor our sovereign obligations. And to do so our standard of living in the future may have to suffer.
