This is exactly an example of self-inflicted wound. The maker of this video McMcintee gets a 15 minute fame but the damage is extensive. Neocons use his video as a "proof how wacko the liberals are", and we are supplying the ammunition.
Just even watching the video in a casual manner, you can see that the photo and the video raise a question whether we are comparing apple to apple. Look behind Bush' right shoulder. In the video you see sailors cheering, and in the photo, there is no blank.
Regarding the black bar on the bottom: just tune in CNN right now, you see a bar at the bottom showing it is CNN. Of course the WH would erase the "CNN" logo:

Click on any video for the month of May 2003 (where McMcintee wants us to go), and you can see the black bar on the bottom does that mean that almost -if not- all videos have been doctored?
This petty argument - which is false to begin with - overshadows important issues like health care, Iraq, social security, immigration, natural disaster (like Katrina), global warming etc.
Unfortunately Mike McIntee is just the type of person Karl Rove loves. |
