I'm not comenting on the rightness or wrongness of the decision... please re read. Your assertion of such shows your emotional attachment to this whole discussion. You don't even remember what it's about. As for accountability, well, that's perhaps a spiritual approach... love the enemies, and one I think is theoretically correct... but in real life we don't usually remove accountability because someone is a bit compulsive. Nice rant though.
