K, you seem like one of those people who can detect racism at 1000 paces and a conspiracy under every rock: <You really have a "thing" about McD's, don't you, Mq? Are you saying people shouldn't have a choice?>
I do quite like McDonalds, it's true. Mostly Big Macs, though they have shrunk over the decades. We used to take our children there for treats if they did spectacularly well at school and I think for a couple of birthdays. I went to a 2 year old's birthday at our local McDonalds a couple of months ago and it was great.
Their milk shakes are far too ice-creamy for my liking. NZ milk shakes are much more like milk. But the best ones included malt [doubt malt when we were kids] with "thickshake" which was a teaspoon of powder stuff to give it a creamy thick texture. McDonalds isn't much use for milk shakes. But they have great little ice creams as a little perk if passing by.
Our daughter worked at McDonalds a few years ago and she liked it and it was great experience for her in dealing with customers. I explained to her not to get upset with nasty customers but to look on customers as people coming in not for food but for a package including psychotherapy - feeling good about themselves buying a little perk and she certainly got good at that. She was just like the young woman used in McDonalds advertisements here.
McDonalds did bring out a Kiwiburger years ago, because the NZ idea of a hamburger was quite different from the soggy USA style. They didn't do a great job of it though.
Their Chicken McNuggets are pretty good too. But not my thing. Great for children who love them.
Their coffee is not worth drinking, but the McCafe coffee is pretty good and is a nice break. Reasonably priced too. Better than Starbucks. I'd rather go to McD's than Starbucks. McD's even had internet available but I don't know if they've continued that. Come to think of it, I'd better get onto them to see if they want to use zenbu.net.nz to help boost customers and profits.
So yes, I suppose I have a "thing" about McDonalds, but I think you meant you sniffed at 1000 paces an anti-McD's closet fanatic.

I should add that I'm not racist. Hey, some of my best friends are American and I firmly believe they should be treated as human. I'm not even sexist though some dumb women think that women are as good as men at maths and stuff.
I love McD's, I love melanin, I love women, and I love children. Heck I even love the French, [not all of them though]. I don't think of myself as a Francophile or paedophile.
