LOL! You are too cute, Mq....Really! No, I thought you might be on a rant against McD's like some have been against WalMart.... You know the old capitalist theory...if it's good, people will flock to your door ... if not, you will close your doors. Or something to that effect.
McD's used to be better, that's for sure. Now the burgers taste like cardboard most of the time, and have about the same amount of flavor, if you can find any flavor, after wading through the salt.
The milkshakes are not worthy of the name. But the yogurt or soft icecream cones are sometimes good.... The drinks have gone sky high....
But mostly, I choose to ignore McD's. If we are hungry for a hamburger, we try to find the best, oldfashioned, clean cafe we can. They usually have the best ones. Ditto the milkshakes. The ones they make in front of you in the stainless steel large cups.
There is only one drive-in wonderful burger place here (actually two of the same group)--BurgerMaster. Complete with real cheese, (not something you don't recognize) lettuce, tomato, onion, and a pickle if you wish on it.
Do you have WalMart there in NZ? I've been in one a couple of times, while my Mom was still living...she liked it...I hated it because it was wall to wall people all pushing carts down the skinny narrow aisles, and all of them in an enormous hurry. They need traffic lights there. BUT the prices are good...
We tend to like little shops that are not a chain, but rather unique.
And yes, I can usually detect racism, and no, I don't think there is a conspiracy under every rock. It's the genealogist in me....makes me ask questions all the time....and wander off to sometimes uncharted fields, just to see if there is something there that is new and interesting.
What's a Kiwiburger, NZ style? We've not been to NZ but hope to get there one day, while we're still on this side of the grass.... |
