I saw this same article on the Motley Fool yesterday. I agree with your comments and I sent a note to the editor advising him that his claims regarding, it being a good thing if Nokia terminates its relationship with Qualcomm, were completely false. I pointed out to him that QCOM holds essential IPR in all 3G standards as well as essential 2.5G GPRS and EDGE technology and unless Nokia renews its license agreement with QCOM, Nokia will be relegated to low end, low margin GSM, while Moto, Samsung and LG take market share in the more profitable 3G market. I encourage all of you to echo the same point...It amazes me how little some of these so called industry expects know about wireless. As another example, the most recent Business Week has a lengthy article on all the "new super fast wireless networks" now operating in the US and Europe. The article mentions "3G" only once but leaves the impression that all of these networks are WiMax and no mention of QCOM. Go figure
