Sapiens Launches Falcon2000 - Assembler Year 2000 Remediation Tool

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC--(BUSINESS WIRE)--September 29, 1997--

Tool Dramatically Reduces Time and Cost of Remediation for
Year 2000 Compliance

Sapiens International Corporation N.V. (NASDAQ:SPNSF) today announced the Falcon2000 workbench, designed specifically for automated analysis and remediation of IBM mainframe Assembler language programs for year 2000 compliance. Falcon2000 analyzes the flow of instructions in Assembler programs, determines where changes should be made, and makes those changes. It utilizes an interactive engine in a Windows NT-based GUI environment. This engine efficiently and accurately applies a uniquely rigorous solution that significantly reduces the time and cost of a year 2000 project.

``The Falcon2000 workbench has dramatically increased the productivity of the Sapiens Y2K Factory,'' says Shai Sole, Chief Technology Officer of Sapiens International. ``Falcon2000 emerged from our proven FALCON technology that converts Assembler programs to C. Its capability to thoroughly analyze Assembler programs results in a very high quality automated conversion.''

Falcon2000 employs an artificial intelligence design that can successfully analyze the primary and more subtle secondary date-related ``suspects'' and ``innocents,'' assessing the degree to which these impact a program. A standard PC is used for analysis and conversion in an automated methodology that identifies and replaces relevant logic patterns and updates programs with appropriate replacements. After conversion, programs are compiled on the PC to validate corrections. Finally, corrected source code and compiled object modules are uploaded to the mainframe for testing.

According to Software Productivity Group, there are over 1.5 million active programs written in Assembler in the United States alone. ``Assembler programs can be a year 2000 nightmare,'' states David Benjamin, Falcon2000 product manager. ``They are very difficult to analyze; their logic is obscure, date values are hard to find, and Assembler programmers are even harder to find. Until now, there has been no effective solution to convert these programs. Falcon2000 fills this void in the marketplace and provides an efficient and cost effective solution to the Assembler year 2000 challenge.''

Falcon2000 is currently available with pricing based on a per line of code usage fee. Sapiens provides factory services for analysis and/or conversion. The Falcon2000 is also available for license to system integrators as a stand- alone product, or as an integrated component with existing products.
