Looks like he'll be buying the shares for an average cost of $6 from some VC/fund. The filing also suggests that he may bring in new management, ie his own team to turn it around. Looking at old 13 D's, looks like he's paid as much as $15 for his previous stake and he also has warrants with an excercise price of $20. My guess is that this is a move to protect his current investment as well as get his hands on an enabling bandwidth/wireless technology which is red HOT ( Look at last week's IPO of Craig McCaw's new wireless company based on radio frequency ). Vern Raeburn, Paul Allen's ex-henchman for Vulcan Investments got Vulcan into alot of bad investments, ie BROD, PSYS, MCOM but he "left to pursue other opportunitites" a few months ago ( we all know what that means ) and it looks like Paul Allen finally has his investment strategies house in order as he continues to diversify into real estate/developments. Also the move to sell part of Assymtetrix to Softbank was an astute move as they prepare for an upcoming IPO.
