Your answer in particular was that they would move in the direction of smaller. But how fast, and when will they get there was not addressed. CJ's answer was not understandable by me. maybe you can decipher it:

"when the transition from 90nm to 65nm occurs, there isn't a significant difference between the transistors. So the final 90nm transistors are the same as the first 65nm ones. So the transition to 65nm means that the chip shrinks and that is all."

Does that mean there will be more chips per wafer ?

You had said chip size would not shrink until metal layers are made smaller. So will the layers be smaller in q1 ? And if in the first generation the transistors are the same, do the metal layers have to stay same (as in 90 nm). Meaning that during q1, there will not be cost savings from 65 nm ?

(assuming it takes a quarter throughput per design iteration.)
