Do you have Golden Labs or Retrievers? We had 3 Golden Retrievers over the years, and absolutely LOVE them...They are just such loves. Not sure they are good watch dogs, as they willingly lick people to death in order to get petted. <gg>
And while I don't know much about Shelties, I want to hug one each time I see them....Just so cute! But then, I like nearly all doggies...except the biting kind.
We also have a BIG black Lab and Shepard mix named Buddy. Our son had him, but as his life changed, he wanted us to keep him 'for awhile'....that 'for awhile' is now 9 or 10 years, so I guess Buddy is ours. He lives outside, and even the Postmen (2 of them) and the UPS and the FED Ex guys come to visit him most every day, and bring treats for him. One of the USPO guys doesn't have our route, but comes to see Buddy anyhow...one day I looked on the front porch after he left, and Buddy was happily chomping away on about 25 animal crackers....
