In a number of places, they had the opportunity to replace a next gen solution that was selected but did not pan out.

I hate it when a company uses that kind of language....the "opportunity" to replace someone's lousy equipment is not the same thing as actually replacing it. On the other hand, I didn't hear the call so I didn't get the full gist. Maybe he said "have the opportunity" instead of "had the opportunity". It makes a big difference.
