Bill, sorry to have mislead you - no the complete Alchemy cycle appears to be a net energy user, but there are no hard figures given on their website, so we don't know the specifics.

The probable biggest energy loss in the Alchemy cycle would occur with the initial electrical "charging" process using ordinary mains electricity (just like a conventional battery). After that there will be other losses as that stored energy is given up and used for electrical generation (via hydrogen release from the equivalent of an "electrolyte" and subsequent combustion in a fuel cell, it appears).

The process is most likely little more than a lab curiosity at this stage, with huge research, development and testing dollars required before commercialization.

I personally would not touch this investment without a lab visit and strip show from the scientists involved, and that too only if I had my own well-informed boffin in tow. I know just enough to know only how little I know. I have enough challenges just to keep my deep cycle battery charged on my boat using a solar panel, and to understand what is going on there (LOL).

Tony.
