Hi Sam,

SIGH,

No leadership here but in the running.

What is most apparent to the likes of us dealers is their continual refusal to downsize the corporate bloat.

Huge in this rightsixing would be to get out of the brand manager by vehicle line overhead initiated by Ron Zarella.

Scrap the Saturn and Hummer franchises.

Saturn has already taken resources away from Chevy (The younger introductory franchise).

ALL of Saturns new models have caused a delay in Chevy's introductory models and Pontiac's sporty versions.

They call this brand building ,but it has resulted in brand dillusion.

The Hummer should be GMC Trucks new model. These guys where supposed to be Premium and then some idiot said let's give top of the line trucks to Cadillac.

Cadillac was cars and now has lost the battle to Lexus.Trucks confused the brand and again diluted it.

This SPREADING THE CRAP OVER THE WINDOWS,has caused the loss of Olds and incresed the duplicity of "Ivory Towers" in Detroit.

Simplify your product into defineable brands.

Support your dealer body with a few models that can support the financial structure necessary to compete in the retail market, and don't let egotistical CEO's redefine the wheel and leave small fractured franchises as their heritage (Saturn - Roger Smith,Hummer - Rick Wagonner).

When you finally hear about GM getting their brands and dealer body right - you'll see they have capital to lead and come out with individual great products that make Chevy,Pontiac,Buick, and Cadillac INDIVIDUAL Franchise places to go for different people.

In between in takes capital to make chevy fenders,GMC fenders and Cadillac Fenders for the really nice but fragmented new SUV.

I guess I just need to call up Kirkorian and have him send me into the board room.GGG

Bob

The first mass produced Hybrid and Fuel cell car will redefine the world and it looks like Toyota has the money to R&D their way to the front - I fear.

GM is trully a shame - much as Ross Perot feared and predicted.
