Triff, I think it might be too late. NZ is in a freeze. Icebergs are raiding from the south. ashburtonguardian.co.nz We have cold southerlies and have had for much of the year. Snow is on the mountains in the south island when summer should be here with heat.

We have held off the return of the ice age because of huge efforts over a century, but despite burning a huge amount of carbon, we have only raised CO2 levels by 30%. It's soaking out of the atmosphere very quickly. We are increasing CO2 production rates, but we are not increasing the rate of CO2 accumulation.

And like filling a leaky bucket, the more we fill it, the faster it leaks out. There will be a maximum we can do, even if carbon fuel sources weren't becoming more more difficult to produce.

CO2 levels will peak in another 20 years or so, then as the human population drops and people save money by using low energy lifestyles [mobile cyberspace and superconductor levitated electronically and photonically controlled transport systems instead of mobile SUVs and monster highways], CO2 levels will drop rapidly.

It's then that we will be at risk of the recurrence of the ice-age.

We will have to move to warmer climates. Back to Africa! Into the Sahara. Death Valley will go green. A kilometre of ice over Stockholm will not be fun for the locals.
