Norwegian digital-signage provider ProntoTV and its cinema-advertising partner Unique Group have signed a deal with leading Scandinavian chain SF Bio to roll out a system that will play digital advertising both on the big screen and on LCDs and plasmas in cinema lobbies.

Multiple goals
Though the number of screens used varies according to the size of the cinema, the system essentially comprises five linked modules:

Unique Group’s IQ-Accord software, which delivers digital advertising to the main cinema screens before the film.
Digital screens in the lobbies, showing movie times, prices and other information.
LCDs in or on food-and-beverage kiosks and serving areas, showing product advertising.
Digital posters, using directional sound and showing movie trailers, which replace the traditional static movie posters around the cinema.
Twelve-inch screens placed outside the entrance to the individual theatres, which display information on show times.
The first SF Bio cinema has already been equipped, with more than 40 screens now adorning the lobby and public areas at Cinema Kista in Stockholm. The second, a 142-screen project at Cinema Bergakungen in Gothenburg, will be completed before the end of the year.
