"Can you tell me which is which with respect to HD-DVD and Blu-ray?" Seems to be the same story. Betamax/Blu-ray is technically superior, but VHS/HD-DVD has more backers. And thus, cheaper. Given that both are DRM'd out the wazoo, I don't really care. While I understand their desire to protect their IP, giving them the right to revoke my purchase anytime without compensation whenever it strikes them is not something I will accept. Sony, with their rootkits is slightly higher on my, umm, fecal list, but the other doesn't strike me as much better.
