I vaguely remember one biotech that had its partnership handed back to them when their partner was taken-over. It was mandated by the regulators with monopoly concerns. The biotech was happy to dissolve the partnership since they had already received high development costs from the partner, which they didn't have to refund, and could choose to re-partner or go alone.
