Bush said in his opinion that AQ was trying to foment a civil war between Sunnis and Shia. That if AQ would just go away we could get on with the flowers and music. What's wrong with that statement? Is it an opinion based on facts? Why would AQ want to turn Muslim against Muslim? What would that accomplish and how would AQ benefit? Tonto keeps saying there are AQ in Iraq. I asked him how many AQ are there, but he did not respond. The answer is probably somewhere between 0 and a few hundred foreign AQ. There may be some Iraqis that have joined with these foreign AQ. Prior to the invasion there was virtually no AQ. From all the intel and reports I have seen they say that AQ is minor in Iraq. Sweeps of insurgents net few foreigners, and not every foreigner is AQ. My point is that I find it very hard to believe that AQ would try to foment a civil war. What for?
