Time to start becoming honest with our fiscal situation? I agree. Let's start with what Elroy suggested and cut 10% of all federal employee personnel. Force the government to cut expenses instead of raising income, just like the vast majority of Americans do.

Then after the budget is balanced, let's correct how we account for Social Security. It's damn nuts to borrow against it but not count that as part of the deficit.

That's TRUE fiscal conservatism. Not the liberal version, i.e. "We're fiscal conservatives because Bush isn't."
