Rink,
Civility on the moderated thread will be restored if everyone feels assured that an insulter will be suspended for sure. The reason insults escalate is:
TGP or CJ or Armin, or niceguy, will call someone a derogatory name, with no reaction from moderator. The insulted person has the choice of either:
1- pretend it didn't happen.
or 2- respond.
If we are sure that within a couple of days the miscreant will be suspended, then no response is needed.
But this works only if there is adherence to the rule. If you start name calling, your microphone is muted. No exceptions.
And if there is a vote, because of ambiguity, it should not be to ask whether to suspend someone. It should be to ask whether a phrase such as "troll" or "that's an idiotic response", or "that's just hypocrisy" should be on the allowed list, or prohibited list.
If something is prohibited, it is a cause to suspend anyone who uses it, regardless.
Try it. It is not a lot of work. And it promotes fairness.
believe me, the AMD detractors have been right. And the AMD promoters have been wrong all year. And they will be that way for the next two years. You do not serve yourself or others by letting fan-boys chase away skeptics. The thread will benefit from having people explain why they think AMD stock price will go down. Because it is a sure thing, it will.
Sincerely,
Sarmad |
