Nokia and Ericsson deceived people by asserting that QCOM didn't have technology required for VW-40 [aka W-CDM/3GSM/3G/UMTS/etc] and indeed, L M Ericsson invented CDMA in 1890. By that subterfuge, they conned people into backing the "Stop CDMA with W-CDMA and keep the GSM ball rolling" standard.
QUALCOMM always asserted their patents and the price they would charge, in the face of the lies. As it turned out, QCOM was right. But after the fact, Nokia and the hagfish slimeballs claim that QCOM can only charge a FRANDly rate as defined by them.

PS: Hedgefund, we are rapidly coming to the end of the year. The toaster competition is nearing an end. QCOM share price is hovering near $38. Yes, yours truly is in the box seat.
My address is 16A Cornwall Park Avenue, Epsom, Auckland 1003, New Zealand. We have lots of toasters here, so to save freight I could "pop" down to The Warehouse, or Briscoes for a suitable Made in China device. All I'd need is a plaque to screw/glue on the side. Heck, I could do that myself too [we have inscription services here].
Yes, I am prejudging the conclusion, lest things rapidly move against me. At least this way I have a "moral" victory. |
