I think Mitch summed the whole thing up with that phrase.

If Michigan crushes USC and Ohio St. crushes Florida, which I think is likely, then Michigan will get their vindication.

I think a 4 team playoff would definitively settle the issue and provide one heck of a TV audience. There would still be arguments about WHICH 4 teams, but I don't think there would be any lasting debate about the TRUE National Champion.
