Unions always oppose merit pay. The thought of someone being paid on their actual worth to the company is a concept they are dead set against, always. Of course it's often because a good share of their memberships are unemployable jerk offs in the non union world.

Remember good employee's do not need a union, they will always have work at good pay. If not they go up the road to better pay. It's the sludge that needs protection.
